Malaysia international Mohd Safee Sali is finally set to join Indonesian Super League club Pelita Jaya on a one-year deal. Before this he has been linked with 3 others Indonesian clubs including Persib Bandung.
Sali will pen a deal which will see him earn a reported USD $10,000 a month, considerably higher than what he was earning with Malaysian club Selangor. This is the first Malaysian professional player played abroad and this is a very good sign for the Asean players especially.
"I want to thank Selangor for giving me this chance to play abroad. I won't waste this opportunity," Safee said.
"It will be a challenging experience as the league in Indonesia is competitive. I hope to help my new club achieve greatness and at the same time, help raise my profile as a player.
"My dream is to play in better leagues after my stint in Indonesia."
The 27 year-old striker top-scored at last year's ASEAN Football Championships (the Suzuki Cup) with five goals, all netted in the semi-final against Vietnam and final against Indonesia
